Dr Concorde's Contribution to Science
Marrying human-ness with science
in medicine and beyond…
In the past medicine assumed that a person's 'human-ness' was superfluous to their development of disease.
With the advent of psycho-neuroimmunology (or 'PNI', sometimes translated over-simplistically as 'mind'body medicine') it became clear that the human aspects of people are extremely important and relevant in the development of disease.
But it is not just PNI. A number of other key sciences are of critical importance in the understanding of disease and its treatment. It's on all these key sciences, which have only recently come of age, that Alex Concorde has largely founded her work:
| PSYCHO-NEUROLOGY AND POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY (PYN): |
The workings and wirings of the mind in the generation of happiness, health and well-being |
| ADVANCED IMMUNOLOGY AND PSYCHO-NEUROIMMUNOLOGY (PNI): |
Mind body, immunity |
| ADVANCED ENDOCRINOLOGY AND PSYCHO-NEUROENDOCRINOLOGY (PNE): |
Mind body, hormones |
| FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE |
Health-focused medicine |
| MOLECULAR GENETICS AND CELLULAR BIOLOGY |
DNA-encoded and cell functionality |
Synergy
Each of these sciences is really important to people's health. But to make the most of what these sciences tell us, they all need to be considered together - how they all work collectively, or 'synergistically', in a 'real-life' person.
Alex concentrated on developing a powerful scientific framework incorporating how these sciences work together and what that has to do with the 'human-ness' of an individual.
She then went on to create a system of diagnostics and clinical application which harnesses what these sciences tell us about health and well-being on a person-by-person basis.
Her work brings these complex sciences to life for each person, individual by individual. This means that your 'human-ness' is placed at the heart of the science of your health and well-being.

The Role of The Wellcome Trust
Some years ago, The Wellcome Trust decided to cultivate some professionals who can think across the boundaries of separate scientific disciplines at high levels of specialism - as well as across the scope of medicine.
They started to sponsor some professionals early in their medical training, before their expectations of clinical possibility might become too entrenched. Their hope was to foster the potential for 'pole-vault advancements' in key parts of medicine.
Alex Concorde was fortunate enough to be the first person in the UK to receive a Wellcome Trust Prize Studentship to undertake a PhD in many of these complex sciences during her training in medicine.
The Wellcome Trust put her in an excellent position to be able to develop her work in the field of health and well-being, and for her to now bring this to a practical proposition to positively affect people's health.
First came syncro-science
But it took several further years of work after her medical and PhD training for Dr Alex Concorde to develop the framework of understanding of how many sciences work together in any given person as one continual system…
She called that system the 'syncro-system' and the collective term for the sciences involved, 'syncro-science'.
Then came Syncro-medicine
Another major step on this journey comes from her work on stress, and principally the treatment and, where biologically feasible, the resolution of symptoms, conditions and diseases associated with stress.
Syncro-medicine is an 'advanced, multidisciplinary, constitutional medicine'…. It tells us how all these facets of science work and fit together, how they affect our health, what this has to do with stress, what it has to do with human-ness - and how to create powerful new prevention and treatment approaches that focus on the individual first.
Then came IBI (Individual-by-Individual) Medicine
The final key element of this journey came with the creation of IBI Medicine, a whole new form of specialist medicine based in the traditional medical sciences and cutting edge research. IBI looks extensively - medically and scientifically, using state-of-the-art lab testing and profiling systems - at what is creating an individual's very own presentation.
We then work out how to 'backtrack' a given presentation by creating the equal and opposite biological 'pull' to reverse the very mind and/or body imbalances that made that individual ill in the first place.
The science and the background is interesting. But, more importantly to all of us, we now have a system to determine what to do about improving our health - on a person by person basis.
THIS IS WHERE THE REAL BENEFIT COMES TO US ALL
