The thyroid is the body's metabolic thermostat, controlling body temperature, growth rate, food metabolism and energy use. It affects the operation of almost all bodily processes and organs.
Thyroid 'dysfunction' - especially under-function - may often go undiagnosed*. Children, adolescents and adults may be affected. The problems may start and continue because of stress on the mind or body.

URINARY TEST
This is a test which measures thyroid hormone levels in the URINE over a 24 hour period.
This is a sensitive alternative to blood testing, especially if used in conjunction with body temperature monitoring and symptoms analysis.
On that basis it may detect some patients whose 'thyroid dysfunction' may go undetected during standard blood tests.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?
You will be sent a kit which you return directly to the laboratory when they have done their tests.
We accept international orders (please follow directions supplied with the tests).
The comprehensive thyroid screen requires a blood sample. This will require the help of a nurse or doctor (eg their GP) or qualified phlebotomist.
Alternatively you may enquire whether there are phlebotomy services at a local hospital (eg private hospital). Or, if they are close to London, you may visit the laboratory that will be sending you the kit (details will be enclosed).
When we have processed their samples, we will send - directly to you - a personal report describing what we have found and what we recommend you do about it. It is that easy!

| COMPREHENSIVE
BLOOD TEST
Dr Concorde considers this test the 'gold standard' for the initial investigation of thyroid gland function.
It checks on central gland activity, possible secondary gland involvement, hormone secretion, peripheral de-iodination and auto-antibody status.
Almost all of these aspects of thyroid function can be influenced by stress - be that physical, mental or environmental stress: current stress or previous unresolved stress.
